1931 Ford Model A Roadster, Done the Hard Way
Larry Miller’s perfect 1931 Ford Model A was built, by Larry, the way street rods were actually built, back in the day. Because that’s when Larry learned to build ’em!
This one includes, for example a 1940 Ford Deluxe dash, just as they liked to add back then, but Larry fit the dash without losing its beautiful chrome-work. Most rodders just chopped them up.
Larry installed a 1950 Mercury V-8, just like the rodders would use, tweaked for healthy grunt, but not too much.
I thought that somehow Larry’s ’31 would look just as good with serene palm trees as it would challenging other hot rods on city streets, that’s because that’s what a perfect design does, look perfect most anywhere. A car like this makes the scene, it doesn’t need the scene.
